Swedish death metal warriors Entombed A.D. descended upon San Diego's Brick by Brick to wreak havoc on our ear drums. They succeeded in doing that as my ears are still ringing this afternoon. Quite frankly, I was disappointed at the turn out for Entombed A.D. I saw them open to a packed house for Amon Amarth last year at House of Blues. Obviously, the big draw there was Amon Amarth. Granted, this time around it was a Monday night and the support wasn't anything to write home about. If you're familiar with the Entombed/Entombed A.D. saga, nothing more needs to be said. If you're not familiar, just know that these guys give 110% live and are well worth seeking out when they're playing a venue near you. Entombed A.D. released their second long player -"Dead Dawn"- last February on Century Media Records. The title track "Dead Dawn" has to be one of the best metal songs recorded in the past few years.
LG Petrov is a pioneer in the Swedish metal scene as far as I'm concerned and his vocals and stage presence are formidable. The rhythm section of Olle Dahlstedt (drums) and Victor Brandt (bass) is tough. Olle makes it looks easy. The dual guitar attack of veteran Nico Elgstrand and recent addition, Guilherme Miranda (from Brasil) is brutal. These guys kill it live!
